Good cover.

John Mayer: Tops of the Tool List.

Yet, I've come to love his music. I know . . . it's in the top 5 things about myself that piss me off.

Anyhow, he plays other people's music quite well, too. Bastard.

She's a good girl, loves her mama
Loves Jesus and America too
She's a good girl, crazy 'bout Elvis
Loves horses and her boyfriend too

It's a long day, livin' in Reseda
There's a freeway, runnin' through the yard
And I'm a bad boy, 'cause I don't even miss her
I'm a bad boy for breakin' her heart

And I'm free, free fallin'
Yeah I'm free, free fallin'

All the vampires, walkin' through the valley
Move west down, Ventura Blvd.
And all the bad boys, are standing in the shadows
All the good girls, are home with broken hearts

And I'm free, I'm free fallin'
Yeah I'm free, free fallin'

I wanna glide down, over Mulholland
I wanna write her, name in the sky
I wanna free fall, out into nothin'
Gonna leave this, world for awhile

And I'm free, free fallin'
Yeah I'm free, free fallin'

And I'm free, free fallin'
Oh!

Free fallin'
And I'm free, oh! free fallin'

Getting to the bottom. Of things.

SCORPIO [October 23–November 21] Happy Holy Daze, Scorpio! If I could give you one symbolic gift to set the right tone for 2009, it might be a glass vase with a potato growing partially submerged in water, allowing you to see its gnarly roots. I'd hope that would inspire you to put diligent yet playful effort into getting reacquainted with and exploring your own personal source code—you know, the master plan of your life that you formulated before you were born. The coming months will be an excellent time to cultivate a wise innocence as you get to the bottom of who you really are. —Rob Brezsny, Village Voice

Who will come to find you first: Your devils or your gods

All you folks think you own my life
But you never made any sacrifice
Demons they are on my trail
I'm standing at the crossroads of the hell
I look to the left I look to the right
There're hands that grab me on every side

All you folks think I got my price
At which I'll sell all that is mine
You think money rules when all else fails
Go sell your soul and keep your shell
I'm trying to protect what I keep inside
All the reasons why I live my life

Some say the devil be a mystical thing
I say the devil he a walking man
He a fool he a liar conjurer and a thief
He try to tell you what you want
Try to tell you what you need

Standing at the point
The road it cross you down
What is at your back
Which way do you turn
Who will come to find you first
Your devils or your gods

All you folks think you run my life
Say I should be willing to compromise
I say all you demons go back to hell
I'll save my soul save myself

HARUMPH.

SCORPIO [October 23–November 21] In one episode of Seinfeld, Elaine couldn't get her favorite Chinese restaurant to deliver take-out food to her apartment, because her neighborhood was just beyond the boundary of where the drivers went. But Elaine was determined. She went over to the building across the street, which was within the restaurant's delivery zone, and set up an alternate home for herself in a janitor's closet. I suggest you adopt a similar strategy, Scorpio. If you can't get what you want in the place where you are, shift your location. —Rob Brezsny, Village Voice

The universe is one tedious little bastard. I GET IT ALREADY.

I'm thinking like a swinging door.

We are like pendulums
Our arms swinging at our sides
And I am a good little clock
Walking along power lines

I'm thinking like a swinging door
Hinging on these changing thoughts
Between the pull up to the shore
And the push off

In the lines of footprints in the snow
All along the edges of the road
I haven't even walked my block
Since I moved out here years ago

The secret lives of twist ties
The hidden story in one line

In the lines of footprints in the snow
All along the edges of the road
I haven't even walked my block
Since I moved out here years ago

We are like pendulums
Our arms swinging at our sides
And I am a good little clock
I'm ticking off the time

The distant lights are twinkling
It means there is a wind
That blows the trees against themselves
And hard into this house I'm sleeping in
I'm sleeping in

SCORPIO [October 23–November 21]: Researchers say that you've got longer than you imagine to salvage food that has dropped on the floor. Bacteria don't start growing on your pizza or muffin for at least 30 seconds. Keep that in mind as a metaphor in the coming days, Scorpio. Anything that you fear has already been spoiled or tainted may actually be possible to restore and redeem. You probably have more time than you thought. —Rob Brezsny, Village Voice

Like, say, oh, my sanity?
Good to know.

Want. To. Squeeze.

After spending a long weekend nestling with the nephew and letting my niece use me as a human jungle gym, you'd think I'd need a little "Mugs Time" . . . yet, I can't friggin' wait to mess with them again! Handsome little devil, isn't he?

Oh, and thanks for the cold, Mam. I'll pay you back in three weeks. Never shall you rest without some facial finger wagging.
